Now, delete all files in these folders

- Go to start menu >> run >> type "msconfig" (without the quotes) >> click OK
From The Tech Sauce - Go to startup >> uncheck all those applications you dont need to run (like adobe acrobat, uTorrent, etc.)
From The Tech Sauce - Now go to the services tab >> check the "Hide all Microsoft services" check-box >> uncheck all services you dont need to run >> click OK >> restart windows

- keep the free disk space of C:/ high. Save your data in other drive partitions.
- delete all temporary files. For Windows 7, go to C:/ >> users >> Administrator(or your profile name) >> AppData >> temp. Now delete all files in this folder.
- Before doing all this you must unhide all hidden files and protected system files. To know more about this, click here
- For Windows XP, go to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings. Now delete the following two folders: Temp, and Temporary Internet Files.
